"You are a king by your own fireside as much as any monarch in this throne" – Miguel De Cervantes
Did you know… that the keep calm trend was inspired by a British propaganda poster for WWII that was printed in 1939. The British Ministry of Information designed the “Keep Calm and Carry On” poster to serve as a national morale booster following some disastrous air strikes throughout major cities in the U.K. It had only limited distribution with no public display, and thus was little known. The poster was rediscovered in 2000, and has since then been re-issued by a number of private companies and has been utilized as the decorative theme for a wide assortment of products ranging from clothing to home decor. It was believed there were only two known surviving examples of the poster outside government archives until a collection of 15 originals was brought in to the Antiques Roadshow in 2012 by the daughter of an ex-Royal Observer Corps member. We, at House of Thrones, love the historical significance of this trend.
